How they differ in practice

Study Bunny is a calm, solo study timer with a pet. While your timer runs, a bunny sits with a book and studies next to you. You earn coins and carrots for studying, feed the bunny carrots to fill its happy meter, and spend coins on outfits, backgrounds, pets, food and music. It also has a to-do list, flashcards and a study tracker you can edit in week view. The timer has countdown, stopwatch and break modes. Study Bunny does not lock your phone. Instead, Honesty Mode asks whether you got distracted and can take a coin or two as a penalty.

Lilo has a mascot too. Lilo changes outfit as you climb through 101 levels, and you have your own custom 3D character. The difference is that Lilo is built for studying with other people. You can sit at a desk in a live 3D study room, like the Classroom, Café, Library or Seaside terrace, and see who else is studying right now, each with a name tag, country flag and live study time. Lilo does not use your camera or microphone in rooms.

Studying with friends

Study Bunny’s website and store listings do not describe any friends or multiplayer features, so it is mostly something you use on your own.

If you want company, Lilo lets you open a private study room and share a 6-character code or an invite link with friends. Private rooms have a chat. You can also start study challenges together: a time goal, a speed race, a ranking battle or a streak. A friends feed and rankings show how everyone is doing.

What switching looks like

Here are the things that change if you move from Study Bunny to Lilo:

• Timer. Lilo’s free timer is a countdown with four scenes: Classic ring, Coffee, Sleeping cat and Rainy window. Stopwatch and Pomodoro modes come with Lilo Premium. Study Bunny’s stopwatch is free, but it has no Pomodoro mode.
• Paying. Study Bunny uses one-time purchases, such as $14.99 to remove forced ads. Lilo Premium is a subscription that adds Stopwatch and Pomodoro, 30+ more timer scenes, the full music library, unlimited challenges and planning, advanced stats, custom characters and outfits, and room extras.
• Progress. Your bunny and its items stay in Study Bunny. Lilo starts from your first session, with streaks you can protect with earned XP, a day planner with up to 2 tasks a day on the free plan, and study music with some tracks free.
